Presentation
The patient attended to restore natural tooth colour ahead of an important event. Examination revealed plaque deposits, calculus, and moderate surface staining from coffee and tea. The enamel appeared dull rather than pathologically discoloured, and there were no signs of sensitivity or enamel erosion that would contraindicate whitening.
Treatment
Professional hygiene was completed first: ultrasonic scaling to remove calculus, followed by AirFlow polishing with erythritol powder to eliminate biofilm and surface pigmentation. Removing the staining layer before whitening ensures a more even and predictable outcome.
In-office external whitening was then performed using a professional system. The session was well tolerated with no sensitivity reported.
Result
The shade improved noticeably and evenly across all visible teeth. After the appointment, personalised home care recommendations were provided — brushing technique, interdental cleaning, and a remineralising toothpaste — to protect the enamel and extend the whitening result.
